Patio slab paving stones were laid out across the whole perimeter of the church for an easy maintenance walkway as the ground is clay and has a tendency for the water to sit on the surface. A resilient grass seed was used and bark chippings surround the small bushes and plants on the edge of the property for weed control and to reduce water loss. Shade loving plants were used in this area due to a very old 40 foot conifer tree that obstructs the sun light at the back of the church. Old chimney stacks were used for planting trailing plants to break up the large expanses of the flint walls.
